Death Valley ultramarathon

For most people, a marathon (or perhaps a half marathon or 10K or 5K) is enough of a challenge. Imagine covering 135 miles, which is over five times the length of a standard marathon. Then imagine doing that in the desert heat, where temperatures range as high as 130, and consider some of the route is in the mountains, with steep grades.

Visit the site about this month's Badwater Ultramarathon, where people did just that.
